Public Relations ManagerDepartment: MarketingFLSA: Exempt, SalaryReports To: Vice President MarketingDate Prepared: June 2012Positions Supervised: Social Media SpecialistPOSITION SUMMARYPlan, direct, and coordinate activities designed to create or maintain a favorable public image or raise issueawareness for the organization.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS• Customer Serviceo Provides Friendly customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns.o Assists customers by maintaining our Friendly philosophy, supported by a value proposition thatevery experience will be fast and friendly.o Represents Company interests with the highest standards of professionalism.• Operationso Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, government officials, and mediarepresentatives and use these relationships to develop a favorable image for the company within thecommunity.o Write interesting and effective press releases and prepare information for media kits.o Oversee the maintenance of the company internet/intranet web pages (including social media pages such asFacebook, Twitter) based on objectives and support for market messaging as well as other critical areas.o Manage all crisis management incidents by developing processes and initiating should an event take placesuch as slip and fall accident or an uncontrollable change in weather.o Identify main client groups and audiences, determine the best way to communicate publicity information tothem and develop / implement a communication plan.o Be the point of contact for media inquiries; development of responses, interview preparation as well asobtaining proper approvals for interviews from senior management.o Respond to requests for information about employer's activities or status.o Direct activities of external agencies, develop and implement communication strategies and informationprograms.o Develop marketing message for special events, sponsorships, advertising and local store marketing forpublic attention through media without advertising directly.o Develop and implement public relations events that drive a positive image for our brands.o Develop and implement Local Store Marketing programs to drive traffic to store locations.o Formulate public information policies and procedures pertaining to distribution of company information.o Develop internal communication plans for departments to keep employees informed of departmentalprograms, news and coverall company activities.o Observe and report on any social, economic and political trends that might affect the company.o Manage communication budgets.o Assist in developing presentations or speeches for company executives and arrange interviews and otherforms of contact for them.o Maintain the company's corporate image and identity creating a positive outcome.o Maintain company archives.o Performs other various duties as assigned.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSCompetency Statement(s)• Drive for Results -- Focused commitment to continually compete against a standard of excellence.• Resourceful -- Versatile and flexible in responding to business priorities.• Ethical -- Operates from a basis of sound core values and beliefs.• Analytical Skills -- Read and understand financial and other business reports; draw conclusions for decisionmaking.Public Relations Manager• Strategic Orientation -- Develop business solutions through balanced consideration of company goals with longand short term benefits and investments.• Creative / Abstract Orientation -- Conceptualize and consider out-of-the-box business opportunities and originalsolutions.• Project Planning & Organization -- Break large deliverables into components for assignment, progression, andcompletion of the whole; solves problems.• Customer Centric -- Champion customer excellence and deliver on the brand promise.• Motivation and Delegation -- Lead others to achieve results through skillful training, coaching, encouragement,and assignment responsibilities.• Solutions-Oriented -- Comprehend and understand stakeholder needs; translate into personal accountability anddeliverables.• Leader of Change and Excellence -- Support company goals and initiatives in word and action; set highstandards for self and others and perform to those expectations.• Influence Management -- Understand and leverage business relationships; effectively impact, negotiate, and leadothers.• Deadline and Budget Management -- Actively manage timelines and expectations; convert concepts into closureand results; no job is left undone.• Communication -- Identify opportunities and needs for information; proactively deliver messages to optimizeactions and outcomes.SKILLS & ABILITIESEducation/experience: Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related field required.
