Mobius Industries USA, IncForeign Language InstructorJob Description:Foreign Language InstructorTarget Languages: French, Persian-Farsi, Russian and Russian-Ukrainian Location: Garmisch, GermanyGeneral Information/ Scope of Work:The mission of the Partner Language Training Center Europe (PLTCE), as defined by the Deputy Secretary of Defense, is to “provide flexible language training to US personnel while offering English and strategic language instruction and expertise for NATO Allies and worldwide partner” (06/01/2001).  Instruction is primarily conducted at the intermediate and advanced proficiency levels (Levels 1+ through level 4); however, acquisition courses (Levels 0 – 1) will also be conducted.  Class size will typically range from 1 – 8 students.Foreign language instructors will develop foreign language course materials, conduct classes, and provide other instructional work to develop and improve the language proficiency of students at the PLTCE.  The language instruction shall reflect current usage of the language in the target language country.  The focus is on communicative competence using functional, task-based language and activities.   Duties and Responsibilities:·  The instructor shall prepare a syllabus.·  The instruction shall include oral communication, pronunciation, structure, listening and reading comprehension, writing, as well as special skills development such as gisting, translation, interpretation and transcription.·  The instructor shall select and include material that addresses various aspects of the society where the target language is spoken (military/security, scientific/technological, culture, social and geography: physical, political and economic).·  The instructor shall determine the learning materials derived from current and authentic sources and from all media (printed, audio, visual, electronic, etc.).  ·  The instructor shall select activities to develop proficiency/skills.·  The instructor shall develop exercises/activities to meet proficiency development needs.·  The instructor shall develop quizzes/tests to monitor student progress.·  The instructor shall post a weekly schedule which will include, at a minimum, activities conducted and sources used during each instructional period.·  The instructor shall conduct a student needs analysis on the first day of class.  During the fiest week, the needs analysis shall be refined.  On Friday, a written report will be provided for each student and a correction plan for dealing with the findings.·   The instructor shall perform instructional activities.·  The instructor shall conduct daily lessons, minimally six, 50 minute periods per day.·  The instructor shall assign homework on a daily basis that is tailored to the needs of each student.·  The instructor shall provide feedback on completed homework assignments, identifying problem areas and conducting immediate remediation.  ·  The instructor shall counsel students on academic progress.·  The instructor shall provide tutorials as needed or requested by students before/after the six periods each day.·  The instructor shall provide suitable out-of-class activities for classes.·  The instructor shall perform other academic duties.·  The instructor shall provide limited translation/interpretation services for the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and the Director of PLTCE on class-related subjects.  ·  The instructor shall research, identify, and recommend suitable commercially available instructional materials that meet the global proficiency development needs of the students.·  The instructor shall work as a team member to develop instructional material, coordinate instructional activities and assignments of student sections with the other instructors, as directed by the COR.·  The instructor shall communicate problems with students in a timely manner to the COR/MLI.Travel:  ·  Instructor may accompany participants or officials on field trips/in-country exercises.Requirements:·  The ability to listen, speak, read and write at a level consistent with that of an educated native.·  Proficient in the English language.·  M.A or higher is desired in a field that is relative to the target language or English as a foreign language.·  Experience that is relative to the target language within the past 3 years.·  Experience in development of instructional or test materials that is relative to the target language.·  Life and work experience in the target language country.About Mobius Industries USA, Inc:Mobius Industries USA was formed in 2005 by its Owner and President, Jeff Balentine.
