The Staff Accountant supports the Accounting department and reports to the CEO. Maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.

Location: The Woodlands, TX

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting Department.

Maintain the Fixed Asset and depreciation schedules; provide monthly detail for General Journal entries; insure proper recording of new purchases and disposals

Perform the processing and recording of accounts payable/receivable transactions

Manage the processing of payments and recording deposits

Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, accruals and prepaid expenses.

Review and process AMEX Expense reports and receipts submitted by cardholders weekly basis.

Assist with payroll and payroll related items

Assist in the preparation of financial reports

Prepare correspondence & mailings for Accounting Department

Maintain files as needed within the Accounting Department

Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyze data; ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e. GAAP), rules, regulations and systems of internal control; interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation; create financial reports and/or presentations.

Must have experience with QuickBooks and payroll

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Be able to demonstrate attention to details and accurate record keeping

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel).

High level of interpersonal skills

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.

Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting

Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 2 solid years of accounting and 5+ of cumulative relevant experience (accounting operations and/or audit).

EDUCATION:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA is a plus
