ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT IJob DescriptionTITLE: Administrative Assistant I LOCATION: AustinAGENCY: University of Texas -- Arlington. Division for Enterprise Development (Austin Office)TITLE: Administrative Assistant I EFFECTIVE DATE: Position available immediatelySTATUS: Casual / hourlyPAY RATE: $13.50 per hourNUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1PURPOSE: To provide highly skilled administrative support to our client's Water Availability Division. Responsible for a variety of administrative duties in the department requiring moderate exercise of independent judgment, initiative and ability to make decisions relative to office operations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform technical support work for program and complex typing and/or word processing. Prepares, interprets, and disseminates information on the agency's programs and procedures. Develops, coordinates, and maintains databases, and record keeping and filing systems.Coordinates meetings, conferences, and/or seminars.Assists in the development of administrative or technical assistance policies and procedures and in analyzing and seeking solutions to problems.May coordinate work between organizational units of the agency. May supervise, train, and/or assign the work of other technical assistance and/or administrative support staff performing related activities.May supervise and/or assist in compiling and analyzing data, in making calculations, and in preparing reports.Prepares, coordinates and types grants, including all accompanying forms and documentation. Designs and/or executes an effective system of internal controls concerning records retention, and develops and updates retention schedules and a manual of operating procedures for records retention, storage and destruction. Supervises and assists in the gathering and recording of data. Assimilates and compiles data using independent judgment in producing final reports. Acts as the unit liaison with other department. Performs other duties as assigned. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General direction from designated supervisor. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General administrative direction and/or supervision of administrative support staff. REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Bachelor's degree with one year upper level secretarial experience or high school with five years of increasingly responsible administrative, secretarial and clerical experience with one year of supervisory experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use of personal computer and standard office equipment. Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Usual office environment.
