POSITION SUMMARY This position will oversee the day-to-day selling and event responsibilities for Designer Events. It will also be involved with the direct marketing and selling of Messina Hof Winery and Resort. This position will be responsible for selling and coordinating all Messina Hof In-House and Contracted Events, as well as execution of all events, including Designer Events, as needed. This position will be responsible for creating and selling new events throughout the year as necessary. Essential Functions Statement(s) Facilitates Messina Hof's high standards of facility cleanliness and customer service. Responsible for achieving sales goals and profitability. Responsible for assisting to maximize sales and control expenses to make DE profitable and run within budgetary guidelines. Sell, plan and coordinate all in-house, corporate/social and Vintage House events (including but not limited to Cooking School, Wine and Roses Festival, Harvest, Wine Premier, Murder Mystery Dinners, Winemaker's Birthday Bash and New Year's Eve Party). Plan, coordinate contracted events (including but not limited to conferences, corporate dinner, sorority/fraternity events, pharmaceutical events, and charity events). Budget preparation assistance. Coordinate dates and times of all events, cost per event and issue proper paperwork. Responsible for planning, assisting events set-up, execution, tear down and clean-up of events. Determine number of guests and notify affected departments of changes for pending events. Supervising staff during events. Coordinate staffing of events with VH management. Follow up with deposits and records, and responsible for all cash and non-cash transactions Close files: bookkeeping, correspondence, etc. Answer phones and direct calls and maintain all communication files. Desktop publishing, including DE specialized menus and presentations. Assistance in selling and follow-up of other private events as needed. Responsible for consultations with the VH/DE Manager, Chef, Villa Innkeeper and client, as needed. Act as liaison between vendors, suppliers and Messina Hof staff. Responsible for on-going organization and cleanliness of DE office, Resource Room, Gallery and Barn. Responsible for maintenance issues in the above mentioned areas. Responsible to maintain inventory of all event related supplies in barn and DE storage areas. Check supplies for up-coming events and replenish stock, as needed. Perform other duties as required. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Competency Statement(s) Related degree and/or 2 - 4 years related experience. Ability to use a personal computer. Excellent communication skills, eye for detail and positive motivational attitude. Ability to execute and improve existing Messina Hof events, as well as design and plan new events. Experience in wait staff relations including management, planning and delegating tasks to provide superior food and beverage service. Personnel management.
