The Mission Continues Fellowship Program challenges post-9/11 veterans to continue service to their nation by serving their communities. Through a fellowship, veterans learn how to use qualities and skill-sets gained through their military service as a way to benefit not only their own lives, but the community around them. At The Mission Continues, we believe that all veterans have the ability to use their experience and potential to inspire and encourage a nation. We provide them with the opportunity and challenge to execute their mission. The Mission Continues does not offer charity; rather, it offers a challenge to veterans to inspire their communities through continued service and leadership. Fellowships are 26 weeks in length and require 520 hours of service (an average of 20 hours a week), during which the Fellow serves at a nonprofit organization in their community. Fellows work on issues ranging from education to the environment and from disaster preparedness to homelessness. Each fellowship is unique. Fellows are encouraged to choose a fellowship location based on their personal passions. We encourage our Fellows to select a volunteer opportunity that suits their interests and skills. By encouraging volunteer activities, we hope to develop the next generation of citizen leaders. We are searching for individuals who have great potential to be prominent and successful in their communities, as well as those who will continue to serve in some capacity after their time with The Mission Continues. In order to apply for a Mission Continues Fellowship you must meet the following criteria:*Service in the United States Military after September 11, 2001*No longer on Active/Guard/Reserve status (IRR/ING status is acceptable) and having attained an honorable discharge*A minimum of 24 months of time in service, unless serious injury was sustained preventing further service*A clean criminal record check (individual circumstances may be discussed on a case-by-case basis)We are searching for passionate, motivated potential Fellows who want to continue service to their country through service to their community.
