Our current opportunity is on our Austin, Texas-based Crimson team. A division of The Advisory Board Company, Crimson is an Austin, Texas based software development company whose primary focus is combining business intelligence technologies, proven implementation strategies, and an agile startup mentality to deliver solutions for managing a health care system's performance. Crimson's enterprise web-application products are developed in partnership with health systems and physicians who are seeking to better align their operational & strategic goals with care quality and prevention. We provide comprehensive products for managing physician quality across a health system, improving patient care, clinical practice management, reducing patient population's health risks, and driving physician referrals. Our products are currently deployed at more than 700 hospitals, engaging more than 200,000 physicians nationwide, and analyzing data for more than 35 million patients.Job Responsibilities:Clarify business requirements and provide effective technical design and architecture using a Software as a Service (SaaS) model.Design and develop Crimson web applications and application componentContribute expertise across multiple Crimson web applications in areas like technology, team skills, process, shared components and qualityDemonstrate a quantifiable increase in the velocity of team output, efficiency, and quality via education, mentoring, introduction of tools, process and software architecture reviewsDemonstrate integrated test strategy planning, including preparation of test data, test harnesses, test automation, test planning, scheduling, and review of system test cases in co-ordination with the testing teamDesign and develop Crimson web applications and application componentsConduct peer code reviews across the development teamWork with geographically distributed development and delivery teams in an agile environmentWork closely with product management to aid solution development and communicate requirements across all teamsProvide technical mentorship and guidance to engineersEnsure high level of quality through design, development and implementationRecommend and implement new technologies and architectures to ensure applications remain currentManage overall responsibility for project coordination and day-to-day interaction with team members on technical areas by performing project estimation and planningBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experienceKnowledge of a server-side development language such as Java or C#Experience designing and developing database applications using SQL8+ years of experience in IT related field8+ years of C#/.NET or Java/J2EE programming8+ years of database application developmentExperience with development in an agile environmentSoftware design experience using Object Oriented patternsAbility to set individual priorities and solve complex issues Ideal Qualifications:Experience with .NET and SQL ServerExperience working with large volumes of dataHands-on experience developing web applications using HTML/CSS/JavascriptExperience in the healthcare industryFlexibility to work across a variety of software-related disciplines: solution design, agile development, unit testing, refactoring, and build/deployment automationExperience with having primary responsibility for delivering a significant projectProven communication skills, especially in the context of working with geographically distributed teamsBenefits: Consistent with our belief that our employees are our most valuable resource, The Advisory Board Company offers a competitive benefits package, including a comprehensive health plan, a 401(k) plan, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, a daytime leave policy for community service, a medical flexible spending account, and additional attractive benefits.
