In addition, Busch operates production plants in Switzerland, Great Britain, Denmark and the USA.Job Summary:The Field Service Technician is assigned to a customer site(s) to maintain the customer's vacuum pumps and equipment on a regularly scheduled basis as well as an "as needed" or "on call" basis.Duties and Responsibilities:• Scheduled maintenance of vacuum pumps and equipment in accordance with all parameters set forth in the contractual agreement between Busch Semiconductor Vacuum Group, Inc. (Busch SVG) and the Customer.• Regularly scheduled maintenance may include, but is not limited to the following items: o Weekly contact with the customer to verify current pump status and upcoming maintenance.o Weekly "walk thru" inspection of customer pump chase(s). This inspection is to include the following items as applicable:o Proper operating oil levelo Proper pump temperatureo Proper water flowo Proper nitrogen flowo Proper motor amperageo Overall pump condition  Sight glass Oil system integrity Mounting condition Piping conditionAll discrepancies found in the weekly "walk-thru" inspection are to be noted on a Field Service Report and/or a report as noted in the contractual agreement, and scheduled for repair by the customer.• Maintain pump chase(s) within standard good housekeeping requirements including• Wiping up oil• Keep area free of debris• Keep aisle ways clear• Clean up all spills• Pump exchange to ensure system operational status.• Pump maintenance to include.• Sight glass cleaning• Oil and filter change• O-ring replacement• Cooler exchange• Exhaust line cleaning• Oil mist collection system drained/replaced• Leak checking of pump, foreline and exhaust line • Document all discrepancies, work performed, and any relevant information on a Field Service Report.• Route all paperwork through the customer contact if available and the Field Service / Regional Operations Manager.• Responsible for any unscheduled maintenance as outlined by the Field Service / Regional Operations Manager. All unscheduled maintenance will be routed through the Field Service Manager, or a designated representative. Contact will be made by the customer via telephone, pager, or personal contact, then scheduled or assigned accordingly. Unscheduled maintenance services offered by Busch Semiconductor Vacuum Group, Inc. may include, but are not limited to, the following items:• Pump exchange to rectify an emergency equipment down status.• Minor pump repair to include:• Sight glass cleaning• Water flow meter replacement/CAL• Nitrogen flow meter replacement/CAL• Vacuum switch replacement/CAL• Regulator replacement/CAL• Oil and filter change• Pump troubleshooting to include: o Determine pump base pressure and integrityo Insure auxiliary systems are operational (i.e. water and nitrogen flow)o Assist customer in system leak detectiono Insure proper electrical configuration and operationo Insure system piping configuration is correct and clear• If pump troubleshooting discovers a condition too large to be repaired on-site, the pump will be removed, exchanged or repaired at a Busch SVG facility, returned and reinstalled (coordination between the Customer and the Busch SVG Manager is critical before sending the pump to Busch SVG.• System start-up after shut down for preventative maintenance (i.e. scrubber clean or tool maintenance)• System installation and start-up of new reconfigured system: o Recommend proper auxiliary systems (i.e. water, nitrogen, and electrical requirements)o Pump replacemento Pump and piping replacements• Pump sizing, piping and auxiliary system requirement questions may be determined on-site, but should be addressed prior to installation or start-up with the Field Service Manager.Job RequirementsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Electrical and mechanical experience is required.• Excellent communication skills are required.• Must be customer service oriented.• Good Interpersonal skills are required.• Must be available to work an on call status after hours and on weekends.• Will be required to attend the Busch SVG Safety Training Course at the Colorado Facility to include Respirator Training and Certification.• Will also be required to pass any and all other Training Courses as required by the customer.• Background check is required.• Experience with MS Office applications, especially Excel. Will be required to maintain complex Excel spreadsheets. • Minimum two years of experience working in field service. Semiconductor or vacuum pumps experience preferred. Physical work conditions: • Exposure to hazardous chemicals.• Will be wearing protective clothing and gear, to include earplugs and safety shoes, gloves, tyvex suits, clean room suits, safety glasses.• Works indoors in an area that can get uncomfortable.• Exposed to loud noises.• May have to work in tight spaces.• May work weekends, nights or overtime to meet customer needs.• 24 hour on-call responsibilities.Physical Demands:• Must be able to successfully pass a physical fitness test.• Must be able to pass a respirator physical test.• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs without accommodation, and maneuver up to 1000 pounds with accommodation.• Use hands to handle tools and or other equipment.• Pumps weighing as much as 1000 lbs must be pushed and wheeled.• May be pulling air hose, carrying 40# air bottle.• Assist winch/hoist by moving pump laterally while suspended.• Ladder work with some twisting, pulling, pushing.• Pushing pumps up and down grades of various lengths and degrees.• Pushing pumps over extended distances.• Pushing pumps with broken wheels.• Stand or sit while examining parts.• Bend, stoop and twist the body.• Kneel, stoop, or crouch while working on pumps or equipment.• Repeat the same motion multiple times.• Loading and unloading onto vehicles.• Lifting pumps of all weights 2-4" onto lift-gates and over gaps.• Walking through large buildings, estimated to be several miles per day.• Long discussions with others with no opportunity to sit.• Extended time on feet.• Use fingers or hands to grasp, move objects.• Bend, stretch, twist or reach out.• Hear sounds and recognize the differences between them.• Wear respirator and perform work while wearing it.Problem solving: • Need to have excellent troubleshooting skills and the desire to work a problem through.• Identify problems and review information.• Detect when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.• Combine several pieces of information to draw conclusions.• Use reasoning to discover answers to problems.• Think of new ideas or creative ways to solve problems. • Identify what must be changed to reach goals.Education:• Technical, electrical, mechanical training or experience.• Formal pump or abatement training a plus.
