The Professional Services Application Engineer position provides an essential link between field services, sales, and the customer.  The positions are located throughout the regions, in multiple locations. This position will focus on the South Central region. Location open to metro areas within the assigned region, will depend on proximity to key customers.  We would like someone to live near an international airport.Application Close Date:  02 August 20131.            Customer Support1.1.        Become familiar with customer systems and operations through regular and ongoing contact. 1.2.        Work with the Product Sales, Field Service, and Account Manager to help Daktronics to develop a strong service relationship with customers.1.3.        Work to develop a role as an adviser for the customer.  Pull value added services by teaming up with Creative Services and the Professional Services Group.  1.4.        Work with customers to develop best practices for operation of systems.1.5.        Become familiar with customers set up, configuration and operation of the control systems to provide support as needed.  Develop documentation on the system that can be shared with the technical helpdesk.  1.6.        Work as a team with Field Service, Product Sales and Account Managers1.7.        Take a proactive approach to the service needs of Daktronics customers. 2.            Season Planning2.1.        Participate Pre-season planning efforts with the Customers and this as an opportunity to promote Daktronics solutions. 2.2.        Visit customer site during the season to ensure the systems are operating as intended and that they are pleased with the services Daktronics is providing.2.3.        Work with Field Service to identify problems related to repeat calls and work to resolve the root cause.2.4.        Have a critical eye for optimal performance.  Being a consultant and advisor for how the customer is using the system.3.            Sales Support3.1.        Provide assistance to the product sales on technical aspects of the Live Event Control Systems.3.2.        Maintain a strong awareness of customer perceptions and satisfaction.  Effectively communicate with the product sales and services groups.3.3.        Work closely with the Service Sales Teams to uncover opportunities for Service Agreement Sales. Ensure that customers are getting the agreed service. Be a liaison for Service Reps.3.4.        Promote System Replacements/Upgrades and professional services.3.5.        Promote sales of additional equipment and equipment upgrades.4.            Proactive Service4.1.        Have the ability to identify problems early and assist with the appropriate resolution; make sound judgments.4.2.        Be able to work closely with Account Managers on building a database to track customer needs. 4.3.        Responsible for service excellence and client satisfaction5.            Represent Daktronics in a confident and professional manner. 6.            May identify, qualify, and train a pool of technical staff as needed for event support.7.            7. Determine entitlements per the customers' Service Level Agreement and work to meet   those requirements.8.            Travel to customer sites and build a strong relationship. REQUIREMENTS:1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a technical field preferred. Combination of education and experience may be considered. 2. Strong knowledge of Daktronics service procedures required. 3. Prefer control room and/or live event production along with in-depth knowledge of Daktronics products, hardware and softwares used in the various market and other services offered by the market is beneficial.   4. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 5. Fluent in English, both written and verbal. 6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 7. Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment. 8. Will need to be accessible after hours. 9. Background check will be conducted. 10. Willing and able to travel, including vehicle and air travel. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked. 11.
