You may also contact us at 972-247-4100.Career DescriptionJob Title: Director of EducationSalary: $42,000 to $48,000Bonus: Eligible -- Estimated bonus $4000 to $10,000 annuallyReports To: Center DirectorFLSA Status: EXEMPTGeneral SummaryManages the day-to-day operation of a Sylvan Learning Center. Responsible for P&L controls, staffing, sales, curriculum delivery and marketing to schools and community. Responsible for the Sylvan instructional program/educational standards; oversees the hiring, training and performance of the instructors. Participates in sales and marketing functions as directed by the company.Essential Job Functions• Responsible for selection, training and overall management of employees working in the center.• Directly manages the sales process of all new and potential enrollments, including initial inquiries, consultations, and conferences.• Schedules and conducts student progress meetings• Monitors and tracks center performance, revenues, expenses and collection of fees.• Conducts center staff meetings with all FT employees.• Establishes and maintains relationships with teachers, educational specialists and other school administrators and parent/teacher organizations.• Assures the professional appearance of the center.• Engages in marketing activities to increase awareness of Sylvan.• Uses the Sylvan systems as outlined in the Quality Service Manual.• Establishes a high level of staff morale and spirit.• Hires and manages instructors, test administrators, teaching assistants and other educational staff• Schedules and conducts student progress meetings• Manages the centers labor budget• Maintains education materials• Motivates and develops staff• Reports education statistics as required• Trains and develops instructors/staff effectively through initial and follow-up training, as well as ongoing workshops.• Schedules staff appropriately to meet instructional demands, and to maintain a 3:1 ratio.• Contacts teachers to discuss student progress before each parent conference.• Conducts monthly instructor meetings to assure adherence to instructional policies and procedures, as well as conduct mini-training sessions as needed.• Administers skills assessments; analyzes testing results and completes summaries.• Writes appropriate goals for students based on initial testing, administers progress tests, and writes progress reports.• Proactively analyzes and conducts prescription quality reviews on an ongoing basis to ensure success of every student.• Ensures that the Sylvan Store is well supplied and attractively displayed.• Manages the instructional hour to assure formal welcome, instruction, and transition time.• Demonstrates a positive rapport and genuine concern for students. • Encourages student morale through recognition, rewards, transition time, contests, instructional program and center atmosphere.• Prepare and deliver ongoing parent conferences. Administer and analyze ongoing progress tests. Write progress reports accurately. Seeks to expand the sale and keep the student enrolled in order to enhance the student experience• Displays a positive example of customer service throughout the customer life cycle from the inquiry call to follow contact of disenrolled students• Creates and oversees motivational events for parents, students, and teachers.• Assists Center Director with enforcing policies for billing and collections, tracks student attendance, prepares daily & permanent schedules.• Organizes and implements attendance procedures.• Implements the Sylvan Systems as outlined in the QSM.• Seeks to grow the business through local marketing efforts and school and community contacts.• Must work well with others in order to build strong relationships.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesBA degree, teaching certificate required. Minimum of one year teaching experience in education is preferred, as well as the ability to read and follow procedure manuals. Excellent verbal communication and persuasive skills and the ability to build relationships are also required. Customer Service Management experience, retail sales experience and strong computer skills preferred. Must be a leader, problem solver, and have the ability to delegate. Must be customer service oriented. Must have ability to calculate figures and amounts, read, analyze and interpret business reports/statistics; write reports and business correspondence.
